This is the second part of a photographic review of some of the greatest classic propeller-driven aircraft of a bygone era - the propliners - still operating in some of the most remote places in the world.

The Alaskan operator Buffalo Airways, now famous for its starring role in the 'Ice Pilots' TV series, appears in this volume as do many other
'propliner' operators whether flying water-bombers, cargo or exotic types built in Russia and China. Vintage airliners still being used in South America are also captured in this evocative photographic survey of the world's surviving propliners.

The water-bomber fleet is well represented, from the huge Martin Mars with its 200 foot wingspan through the Consolidated Catalina, to the purpose built Canadair CL-215, the Grumman S-2 Tracker and its development into the Conair Firecat.
Throughout the world, other propliners operate in many guises. China uses its Yunshuji -5 with locally fitted winglets and the Harbin Y-11 for crop spraying, whilst Russian-built Antonov An-12 transport aircraft are used further afield in such places as the UAE, Armenia and Angola.
The Airbus Industries Super Guppy is derived from the piston-powered Guppy first used to move outsize components for the space industry, the Douglas DC-6 still commonly operates in the wilds of Alaska and around the Colombian town of Villavicencio, many DC-3 Dakotas continue to ferry freight and passengers to small towns and settlements.

Propliners of the World Volume 2 presents over 170 colour photographs of these classic propeller-driven aircraft, forming an evocative look a vanishing world of classic pounding pistons.
